ABOUT

HISTORY

Laine's earliest recollection of performing was at five years old as a tiny ballerina in her first dance recital, and again at her Kindergarten graduation singing "Six Little Ducks" - a solo!! - onstage. As a child, this budding director gathered reluctant neighbors and siblings to perform in her family's playroom-turned-theater for audiences who paid 10 cents per ticket!

TRAINING

She has a BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) and Vocal Performance studies at Southern Methodist University under Dr. Thomas Hayward. She continued training in New York, Dallas, and Los Angeles. A perennial student who loves learning, she currently trains with Heidi Marshall (film acting), Alex Rybeck & Sara Lazarus (cabaret).

PERFORMER

Throughout the years, Laine has performed in countless musicals in many venues, and as an Actors Equity guest artist in professional, academic, and community settings. Her greatest love - besides her family - is performing. She recently played "Sister Katherine" in the short film LOVING YOU IS COMPLICATED, which is top 20 in LOUISIANA FILM PRIZE 2023.

DIRECTOR

As a director, Laine has brought to life countless musicals and plays since 1989 when she was at the helm of a large production of "Annie" at Les Theatre des Bon Temps in Marksville, Louisiana. She started a non-profit educational theatre company in 1996 (Family Playhouse) and a for profit theatre company (LBM Productions) in 2014. Laine has been director, music-director and choreographer for University Theater, Community Theater, For Profit and non-profit Educational Theater Companies, High Schools, Summer Youth Camps, and Youth in K-8 schools. She served for 12 years as Drama Director at Alexandria Country Day School in Alexandria, La, where she produced an annual full scale musical each spring.
